Acupuncture for pain relief

If you are struggling with pain, acupuncture is one of the most natural and non-invasive ways to find relief. Personalized, safe, and effective, it can help you get back to enjoying a fuller, more comfortable life.

The problem of pain

In our stressful world, chronic pain is everywhere — in the back, the joints, and beyond. Pain stops us from fully enjoying life and often leads to further problems: it makes exercise and everyday activity harder, and over time the body’s overall health can decline.

Chronic pain has even been linked to depression. Worse still, the most powerful pain-killing drugs are addictive, dangerous opioids. It is a complex problem that can cause real mental as well as physical suffering.

Acupuncture's benefits

Acupuncture is a highly effective, natural way to relieve pain. In one clinical study of more than 18,000 participants, acupuncture outperformed no treatment at all.

In the view of Chinese medicine, acupuncture works by influencing the flow of qi in the body; placing needles at specific acupoints shifts the body’s chemistry and eases pain.

How we help

When you arrive, the doctor asks about your pain, symptoms, and medical history, then performs a full-body exam — checking your tongue, pulse, and points of concern — to personalize your treatment. She typically inserts four to ten hair-thin needles about half an inch deep, left in place for 10 to 30 minutes while you rest. A typical course is around 16 weekly sessions.
