Acupuncture for digestive health

Treating digestive disorders with prescription drugs often brings a long list of side effects. Acupuncture is a safe alternative with no significant side effects — natural, personalized, and scientifically supported. If you want a healthy, natural, and safe solution for digestion-related issues, acupuncture is for you.

Digestive disorders

Digestive disorders come in many forms — including bloating, diarrhea, bacterial infections, ulcers, bleeding, and inflammation. These conditions are annoying at best, and left untreated they can worsen and cause real harm; some may even require surgery.

Many drugs for digestive issues carry side effects of their own, and can even alter the gut bacteria in your body, making the original problem worse.

Acupuncture's benefits

Acupuncture has a long history of safely helping those with digestive disorders. According to a World Health Organization review of scientific studies, acupuncture has been shown to relieve diarrhea, constipation, inflammation, heartburn, infections, ulcers, and more — without the headaches, nausea, and dizziness that many digestive medications can cause.

How we help

When you arrive, we ask about your specific symptoms, your diet, and your lifestyle, and give a full-body examination. Everyone’s digestive system is unique, and we personalize treatment accordingly. In general the doctor inserts four to ten hair-thin needles about half an inch deep — not necessarily near the stomach — and you rest for 10 to 30 minutes. A typical course is around 15 weekly sessions.
